The “Presence/Absence” installation  was comprised of 11 banners 18’ high on which were painted silver birch trees.  On the trees were projected a variety of city people from London’s Piccadilly, all plugged into their cell phones or headphones and oblivious to their surroundings.  In contrast the wild animals that sporadically appear for a mere 2 seconds are vitally aware of the humans in their environment.  The whole piece is set to wild bird song.
